Ron Marko is an abstract artist whose work explores color, structure, movement, and the unexpected relationships between seemingly unrelated forms. His paintings begin as concepts—developed through color, composition, and digital experimentation—and evolve into original works on canvas.
THE ART
For me, abstract art is about discovery. I am interested in what happens when color, shape, line, texture, and composition begin interacting in ways that aren’t completely planned. I often begin with a visual idea and develop it digitally, experimenting with color and structure until the concept begins to reveal itself.
The finished concept is then translated onto canvas, where the physical process of painting introduces another layer of unpredictability. The result is artwork that exists somewhere between intention and discovery.

FROM CONCEPT TO CANVAS
My paintings often begin before the canvas ever enters the studio.
I start by developing a visual concept digitally, experimenting with color, shape, line, texture, scale, and composition. This allows me to explore possibilities that might not be obvious when working directly on canvas.
Once the concept begins to reveal itself, I use projection to transfer the composition onto canvas and begin the physical painting process.
But the digital concept is only the beginning. As paint, texture, gesture, and chance enter the process, the work begins to change. What happens on the canvas can’t always be predicted—and that’s where the discovery happens.
The goal isn’t to perfectly reproduce the original idea. It’s to discover what the idea can become.
