When I was a little girl I would hold my mother's crystal perfume bottle to the light so that I could see all the beautiful colors that appeared. I couldn't put it into words then, but now I know that it was a fascination for me. When I would look at the blues skies, a vivid flower, or the array of colors in my crayon box, it was a fascination to me. I wanted to create those colors myself.

My paintings are about the colors and layers of the human condition. The impressions and choices we make become information that forms who we are. Taking risks in life and in my artwork allows me to grow intellectually and personally by forcing me to find constructive resolutions. My paintings utilize many layers of line and color to tell my story. The subconscious impressions that result from reactions with the experience of being, combined with the deliberate interaction of the materials I use and my personal perception of color, light, space, rhythm, and the splendor around me, result in a never ending creative journey that fills me, and hopefully the viewer, with a sense of gratefulness for that which is always right in front of our eyes.
